Charging your device

The battery level of your device is insufficient at the time of purchase. Charge your device before use.

Always use a Sony-branded charger that supports USB PD (USB Power Delivery) and USB cable, since other types of chargers and USB cables may pose increased safety risks.

Note

  • Your device has an embedded, rechargeable battery that can only be replaced by your local authorized Sony service facility. Never try to open or take apart the device yourself. Doing so can cause damage and void your warranty.

Hint

  • You can also charge your device by connecting to the USB port of a computer. However, a wall socket charger will charge your device faster than charging via computer.

  1. Connect one end of the USB cable to the charger (or to the USB port of a computer).
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the USB Type-C terminal (CHARGE) on your device.

  3. When the device is fully charged, disconnect the cable from your device by pulling it straight outwards.
Make sure not to bend the connector.

Note

  • It is recommended that you charge your device by connecting a USB cable to the USB Type-C terminal (CHARGE), although you can also charge with the USB Type-C terminal ( Data transfer).
  • You can charge your device using the USB Type-C terminal (CHARGE) even while transferring data using the USB Type-C terminal ( Data transfer). However, power can only be supplied from the USB Type-C terminal (CHARGE) if you connect your device to both USB Type-C terminals.
  • If the message below appears on your device, a charging malfunction has occurred. Please stop using your device and contact an authorized Sony service partner for repair.

  • Charge the device at an appropriate ambient temperature from 5 °C (41 °F) to 40 °C (104 °F). The battery is not charged and power is sent directly to the system in environments that exceed the appropriate temperature range or when the surface temperature of the device is rising.

Hint

  • By setting the Ambient display, you can check the battery level and status even in the Sleep mode. Find and tap [Settings] > [Display] > [Lock screen], and then tap the [Always show time and info] switch to enable the function.
